No pics today. Just me and my thoughts.
Brittany, Hayden, and Conner came over to play today. The boys had a great time, while I showed Brittany some easy recipes that the kids loved! We just made some bite sized quiches and chicken eggrolls with homemade sweet and sour sauce. It all came out great!
I love showing people recipes. I love cooking period. I am pretty adventurous when it comes to trying new recipes. I still don't cook fish, but I do try alot of new ways to cook meat or steak. I've even tried making a few different types of chili. Some of the stuff I try don't come out that great, but I've got an awesome husband that grins and throws a bunch of Louisiana Hot Sauce on top :)
I was thinking, more rather, dreaming about starting up a cooking group. I know I have the recipe exchange I go to and love it! I'm more of a visual person though. I'd love to show people how to make a recipe. Maybe have some volunteers sign up for a monthly cooking class. How fun would that be?
I did something like that with my church back at Camp Pendleton. We would each bring a recipe and demonstrate how to do it. Every now and then we'd have a professional chef come teach us some tricks. We could even have a couple classes dedicated to tips and tricks while cooking things. Like a 'trick' for sweet and sour chicken....if you coat it with flour or cornstarch, put a table spoon or two into the mix and coat the pieces, the batter won't fall off your meat when put in the sauce! I love figured little things like that out!
Again, this is just a thought. Maybe I'll make it happen. Sometime....
Anyone interested?!
Can you start a group at Camp Zama in Tokyo so I can join? =) That sounds like a blast and if we were still moving to Okinawa, I'd be in! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIf I could, I would! Why don't you try starting one? Do you have any online groups for your area?
