The Egyptian high priest Ankhhor shared the religious belief of his day that mummification was the ticket to an eternal existence. Lucky for us, a small slice of Ankhhor’s encore was spent right here in Okinawa!
Ankhhor was a mover and shaker in the pharaonic period in Thebes on the east bank of the Nile River over 2,650 years ago. He led a privileged life and spent his adulthood presiding over temple duties in the lofty position of high priest. The pomp and circumstance to which the man was accustomed is no less today.

We got to see a replica of the Rosetta Stone and some real "live" mummies. :) I have to say, the people in ancient Egypt were really short. I was definitely taller than Ankhhor. Now that's saying something!
They even had mummy cats! Whaaaat?
Unfortunately, there were no pictures allowed. I guess the 2650 yr old Ankhhor is picture shy.
We did get to enjoy the rest of the Okinawa Prefectural Museum, but there wasn't much. Well, that we saw.... I didn't feel like shelling out more $ this time around.
That was the extent of the "dinosaur exhibit".

They had a "hands on" exhibit. Sean made a beeline for the drums!
Plastic food? Mmmkay.
The museum itself? Not very impressive, but I loved the mummy exhibit! :)
