So, my doctor's appt was at 940. I hurried to get the boys up, fed, and dressed to be out the door by 845 so we could get there on time regardless of traffic only to get there and be told my doctor had to cancel all her appts due to personal reasons! I understand if she has an emergency, but they could at least call me more than an hour before my appt to let me know! I had a couple things to do at Tricare anyways, so it wasn't a total waste.
On the way home, we took the shortcut through Kadena so Sean could see the airplanes! He is facinated by them lately! Any time he hears or sees one , he points to the sky and screams,"Apane!!" LOL
It was a beautiful day here in Okinawa! I hope the weather stays this way for a while!
This is Jusco! It's a Japanese version of a mall. It's not as big as most malls in the States, but it does have a grocery store, shoe store, clothing store, and lots of random stores selling different things. It also has a big arcade and a food court. Each Jusco is different though. I like the one closer to our house better, just because Nitori is right next door! Nitori is like a Bed, Bath, and Beyond! We got our carpet for our living room there.
I saw this sign on the way home and I am excited to go check it out when I get a chance!
While on Kadena, I stopped at the Eagle Hardware Store for some stuff I needed for the house. It's a free hardware store, where you can get parts for most of the stuff in housing. Light bulbs, screws, filters, paint supplies, most parts for fixing a toilet or shower.
It really does come in handy! Most of the time they are out of alot of stuff, though.
After cutting through Kadena I decided to try out a shortcut my friend, Brandi, showed me the other day. Ya, didn't work out too well! I did good at first, but one wrong turn and I was lost! Thanks to my Iphone Maps app I wasn't totally lost! The road I was on didn't have a name, but I traced it back to a main street I recognized! I saw some neat farms on the way though!
I have no idea what kind of plants they are, but there was field after field of these!
Here's why you need a small car when driving here! Most of the side street you might want to take for a shortcut have no names and are incredibly narrow. They have these mirror up so you can see around a corner for oncoming cars.
Finally I came to a sign I knew!
Haha! Since most roads don't have a name, you have to look for markers to know when to turn. This is the Bull sign, obviously! :)
This is the lone vending machine! You will see a vending machine in the most peculiar places! You could be driving down a deserted road in the middle of nowhere, with no buildings or houses around and BOOM! Out of nowhere there is a little Boss or CocaCola vending machine tucked into the bushes!
That was pretty much the end of my adventures for the day. We had Subway for dinner and I went to the gym with Brandi. Yay me! My back has been doing alot better, but I still have a hard time bending to pick things up. I might regret it tomorrow, but for now Im going to take a Motrin and hit the sack! Night Okinawa and Good Morning America! :)
